I was born in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia to James Edward (Ed) Hollifield and Florence Haddock Hollifield. My parents moved a few months after I was born, so I do not remember living in Atlanta. The first place I can remember living is on a farm outside of Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee. We lived there about a year and my first sister (Debra) was born there. The next place I remember living was on the mountain outside of Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina with my grandmother (my dad's mother). She was very old and very sick. This is where I remember having my first friends. The next place I remember living was Cunningham, Montgomery County, Tennessee. We lived about ten miles south of Clarksville (the county seat) just off of state highway 48. Most people know of Clarksville because of Fort Cambell, Kentucky. My baby sister (Mary Ann) was born here. We lived in Montgomery County for ten years. My dad ran the old Syke service station just north of the high school on highway 48. I attended Montgomery Central School through the ninth grade before moving to Cowpens, Spartanburg County, South Carolina where I graduated from Cowpens High School.

I was married in York, York County, South Carolina to Janice Marie Harris. We were married for twenty-four years before our divorce. We did not live together for the last year. Janice and I lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma for three years. On February 6, 1979 while working for Protection Alarm Company I was knocked of a ladder and crushed my left ankle. I have had four major surgeries and two minor surgeries on it. Three of the major surgeries and one of the minor surgeries were performed in Oklahoma City by Dr. Jack Spencer at Saint Anthony's Hospital. The last two surgeries (one major and one minor) were performed by Dr. Lowell Gill at Othopaedic Hospital in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. After moving from Oklahoma City we moved to Gaffney, Cherokee County, South Carolina to raise our children. Gaffney, Cherokee County is Janice's home.

My father was killed by a drunk driver on December 22, 1998. He had just started driving again after winning a battle with cancer. He was buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He served in the United States Army Aircorp during World War II and received several medals for battles that he fought in. A United States Army Honor Guard participated in his funeral. The Army Aircorp is now known as the United States Air Force.

On February 4, 1997 Janice left after being caught in an affair.

On July 1, 2009 I moved in with Mom to take care of her. Mom passed away on January 31, 2017. She was 84 years old. She was buried next to Dad at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

I lived in Cowpens, Spartanburg County, South Carolina from October 1999 till Mom's death. I now live in San Bernardino, California.
